Welcome to the Freeborn Charles blog — my little corner of the internet where I write about the modern web.
I'm Charles Freeborn, a front-end developer and technical writer. I spend most of my time working with JavaScript, React, and the broader JAMstack ecosystem — and I've decided it's time to start sharing what I learn publicly.
What to Expect
This blog will be a space for me to:
- Write about JavaScript and its ecosystem — things I'm learning, patterns I find useful, and problems I've solved
- Explore React, Gatsby, and the JAMstack in depth
- Share notes, opinions, and ideas on modern web development
- Document my journey as a developer and technical writer
Why Start a Blog?
Writing is thinking. The act of trying to explain something forces you to actually understand it. I've consumed a lot of content over the years, and I think it's time to start contributing back.
I also believe in learning in public. By sharing what I'm working through — even the messy, unfinished parts — I hope to connect with others on the same path.
Let's Connect
If you find anything useful here, or want to talk web development, find me on Twitter or GitHub.
Here's to the journey.
